David Darbyshire Named 2016 Board Member for asbe Foundation

Organization Embraces New Year with 2 New Board Members

David Darbyshire, Managing Member of a local reseller and supporter of SOLIDWORKS CAD software, will join the asbe Foundation as a board member for the next 3 years. Being an active member with the organization, David has been involved with many business and education outreach initiatives that helped to secure his nomination and position on the board. David will now have a better opportunity to assist with promoting design and engineering as a career choice as well as establish partnerships between companies and schools to better serve the educational and design communities.

The asbe Foundation holds a Design Challenge every year, allowing students to utilize their artistic styling and CAD/drafting skills learned in the classroom. Some of the primary functions for individuals on the board are to promote this annual competition as well as building awareness for all CTE (Career Technical Education) programs. They make it a priority to help inspire and empower students to be creative and follow career pathways into the engineering and design careers.

DASI and David Darbyshire have been working together with the asbe Foundation for over a decade. They collaborate and support each other in many different events and activities that both organizations hold annually, some of which being the AutoRAMA, the annual DASI Dream Cruise Event, the asbe Foundation Annual Golf Outing, the DASI Education Summit, as well as other various tradeshows and conferences throughout the year. “I am looking forward to building on the legacy of past members while embracing the idea of bringing the next generation of designers and engineers into emerging sectors of the future workforce,” said David Darbyshire.

This year’s Design Challenge Annual Awards Banquet will be held on March 22 at Macomb Community College’s University Center Building. Be sure to check out www.asbefound.org for all up to date information on the Design Challenge as well as the Awards Banquet.
