DASI Solutions to Host Apprenticeship Open House

Event is part of first annual National Apprenticeship Week

PONTIAC, MI, October 30, 2015 – DASI Solutions, in partnership with the U.S. Department of Labor, announced that they will host an Apprenticeship Open House event on November 6, 2015 at their Downtown Pontiac Headquarters as part of the first annual National Apprenticeship Week.

The event will feature a presentation about DASI’s successful Apprenticeship program, as well as a facility tour where attendees can get a first-hand look at their SOLIDWORKS training lab and their state of the art Stratasys 3D printing studio.  Following the tour, attendees will hear from a special guest speaker from the US Department of Labor on the importance of Apprenticeships and the movement that is currently sweeping the nation.

Apprenticeship is an “earn and learn” training model that combines work-based learning with related classroom instruction using the highest industry standards. According to Dave Jackson, companies that offer Apprenticeship programs can diversify their workforce, improve productivity and profitability, standardize training, reduce turnover, receive tax credits and more. “While 75 years ago, the apprenticeship system began in construction and other skilled trades, today there are apprenticeships in more than 1,000 occupations, including careers in healthcare, IT, energy and more,” said Dave Jackson, Apprenticeship USA and Department of Labor Representative. “The goal of the National Apprenticeship Week and open house events like this one is to educate businesses and leaders about the importance of Apprenticeship programs. These programs can lead to great jobs that also help positively impact our economy.”

The U.S. currently has approximately 375,000 apprentices working with more than 150,000 employers. Last year, President Obama established a goal of doubling the number of Apprenticeship within five years. The inaugural National Apprenticeship Week is one of several initiatives helping achieve that goal.
